On the 1st of October 2004, we opened Baloo’s Necessities doors to five eager children. Nineteen years on and the family run school is filled with happy children and has a staff compliment of 15.
Baloo’s children and parents are supported by qualified teachers, experienced staff and child developmental professionals, who are committed to providing quality pre-primary education with loving care.
We offer child care from birth to six years old. Our focus is on small classes tailored to each age-group, ensuring your child receives individual attention. Our teachers and class curriculum aim to promote your child's social, emotional and intellectual development in a structured and fun-filled way.
Self-image, intellect, character, will, work habits and attitude (towards life as well as learning) are formed before the age of six. A solid foundation built on good values, respect, love and care, is essential for a successful education in later years. We help parents provide this, utilising the following objectives:
- To create an environment which is challenging and full of exciting discoveries whilst, at the same time, happy, non-threatening and non-competitive.
- To give children freedom in an ordered and structured environment encouraging the development of independence and self-discipline.
- To allow each child to develop an individual work-rhythm in preparation for a life of self-directed learning as well as meaningful ‘work’ in the world.
- To promote the pursuit of truth and provide clear moral guidance.
- To foster a spirit of love, kindness and courtesy in all personal interactions.

- To allow children the space to experience contentment and joy in activities that meet their deepest needs.
- To maintain close contact with parents (the primary educators of their children) and to provide ongoing parent education programmes.

Dicipline:
We believe children need routine and an understanding of boundaries, and therefore require discipline delivered in a caring and non-threatening manner. Teachers foster fairness and kindness and make use of disciplinary methods such as distracting or separating a child temporarily from the group, when need be. We encourage positive behaviour before disciplining negative behaviour
Meals:
Meals are balanced and the children are served breakfast, a mid-morning snack of tea/juice and sandwiches, a cooked lunch and a mid-afternoon snack of tea/juice and sandwiches. Our cooked lunch alternates between two weekly meal plans. All our food is freshly prepared on a daily basis and healthy appetites are welcome with second helpings served if wished. As infants’ needs vary, parents of babies 0 – 12 months are required to supply all meals.
Security:
Baloo’s Necessities has appointed BSG Security as its preferred security partner and are furnished with armed response. All points of access to the premises are strictly monitored and controlled by senior staff and we employ a permanent security guard who is stationed at the front gate of the school. Our school has CCTV cameras in all our classrooms and on our playground for your peace of mind.
